What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective, structured therapy, long used to treat PTSD and other mental health conditions. You will briefly think about a trauma memory while following a light bar with your eyes and holding lightly pulsing tappers in each hand. That is called bi-lateral stimulation. I have an EMDR Telehealth platform that has bi-lateral stimulation too. EMDR moves trauma memories from the trauma center of your brain into regular memory storage. Once that trauma memory is moved, you will no longer feel upset, terrified, angry, or ashamed when you think of that memory or are reminded of it. Research shows that you will complete EMDR Therapy in half the time of other talk therapies. We typically reprocess one trauma memory each 60 minute session.
